How can we build an environment where machinery and equipment are able to improve processes through automation and self-optimisation to reduce the risk of error and downtime?

How can farmers gain better visibility and control over the plantation and the process of raising livestock and growing crops by using Precision Agriculture to improve predictability and efficiency?

Here’s how to enter the challenge:

Step 1: Join the Challenge Introduction Roadshow
Register online to attend one of the IoT Challenge Roadshows,
where you will learn more about the themes of the challenge and
NB-IoT and find potential team members. To learn more about
NB-IoT and the challenge mechanisms, you may refer to the 
Maxis IoT Challenge Info Pack.

Step 2: Share your ideas
Due to the overwhelming response to the challenge, we are extending the challenge submission dateline to 30th June 2019 (11.59pm), don’t miss out and submit your ideas here

Step 3: Attend the IoT Workshop
Based on the ideas, teams will be shortlisted for the next stage. On 5 July, shortlisted teams will be notified via email and invited to attend an IoT Workshop on 20 July. The workshop will help them understand the Maxis IoT Starter Kit and the platforms needed to produce a working prototype of their idea. 

Step 4: Pitch Day
Shortlisted teams can develop their solutions from 20 July - 16 August in preparation for the Pitch Day on 20 August. On 16 August, teams will be invited for a mock pitching session to receive feedback that can help them improve their presentations and get familiarised with the challenge day format.

What is the challenge about?

What is NB-IoT? 
Narrowband IoT or NB-IoT is one of the Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) technologies currently available in the market. To learn more, click here.

Is the challenge only for Malaysians?
The challenge is open to all Malaysians and non-Malaysians who have a valid PR or work/student permit.

Do I need a team?
You can attend as an individual or as a team for the Challenge Introduction Roadshow. There will be a speed dating session during the Challenge Introduction Roadshow where you can form teams for the actual challenge. The ideal team should consist of 2 - 5pax with a good mix of programming and business/marketing skills.

How much time do I have to commit to the program? 
You can choose to attend the Challenge Introduction either on:

  • Thursday, 23 May (4.30pm - 8.00pm) in Penang,
  • Saturday, 25 May (9.30am - 1.00pm) in Kuala Lumpur, or
  • Monday, 27 May (4.00pm - 7.30pm) in Kuching

If your pitch video gets selected to proceed to the next stage, you will be required to attend these sessions:

  • IoT Workshop - Saturday, 20 Jul (9am - 6pm) in Kuala Lumpur
  • Pitch Preparation - Friday, 16 Aug (5 - 8pm) in Kuala Lumpur
  • Pitch Day - Tuesday, 20 Aug (9am - 6pm) in Kuala Lumpur
