Unleashing the potential of the Internet of Things (IoT) with Maxis to solve real business problems

The Maxis IoT Challenge which was launched in May 2019 to gather ideas to help unleash the potential of IoT has received overwhelming response.

After months of hard work by the innovative and creative talents across Malaysia, 20 shortlisted finalists pitched their solution prototypes to a panel of judges at the IoT Challenge Pitch Day and the top 3 grand prize winners with the winning ideas were finally announced.

This will be the first of many joint initiatives that Maxis will continue to undertake to foster innovation for all Malaysians.

Smart Cities for Safer Communities
of Tomorrow:

How can we transform cities into intelligent ecosystems making them safer and more accessible for the communities living in them?

Smart Manufacturing for
Factories of the Future:

How can we build an environment where machinery and equipment are able to improve processes through automation and self-optimisation to reduce the risk of error and downtime?

Smart Agriculture for
Productive Plantations:  

How can farmers gain better visibility and control over the plantation and the process of raising livestock and growing crops by using Precision Agriculture to improve predictability and efficiency?

Cash prizes and rewards:

Cash prizes of RM15,000, RM10,000 and RM5,000 for the top 3 winners

Seed funding of up to RM100,000

Access to Mentoring Programme from industry experts and future collaborations with Maxis

Complimentary membership with CO-LABS co-working space

Maxis IoT Challenge Pitch Day:

During the Pitch Day, the 20 finalists who were shortlisted were given five minutes to pitch their ideas and prototypes to a panel of industry judges from MDEC, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Microsoft, Cisco Systems, IJM Corporation Bhd and Maxis.

  • Saving lives with IoT assisted emergency response
  • Modernised disaster management

Smart Manufacturing : 4 Finalists

  • Condition monitoring and predictive maintenance
  • Asset tracking for logistics management

Smart Agriculture: 7 Finalists

  • Plantation worker and harvester productivity tracking
  • Heavy machinery monitoring
  • Yield impact with precision agriculture

Category:

Smart Cities - Traffic monitoring & management.

IoT Solution Description:

Smart road user detection to detect even cyclists and motorcyclists for safer roads,and links to smart street lights to enable greater road safety when users are present.

Prize:

RM10,000 & three months complimentary membership with CO-LABS co-working space.

Smart Agriculture - Yield impact with precision agriculture.
 

IoT Solution Description

Smart agrculture solution to detect and repel growth of
pest (weed) that is a threat to paddy farming
