VSAT Services

Always stay connected to your network wherever you go.

Be reached anywhere

Using satellites to set up a private network, the VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) is a network that is independent of geographical barriers or existing terrestrial infrastructure. This allows your business to stay connected to your network from any urban or rural location.

Always connected

Always connected

As long as you can see the sky, be assured that you are connected to your network.

Rapid deployment

Rapid deployment

Compared to traditional communication infrastructures, VSAT can be more quickly deployed to geographically dispersed sites. Onsite VSAT installation can be done in less than a day.

High reliability & availability

High reliability & availability

Service availability for VSAT networks averages at 99.8% for C-Band and 99.5% for Ku-Band as there are only two possible points of failure (the start and end points). Our centralised Network Management Center keeps track of your network stability to ensure minimal downtime.

Data Transmission from VSAT Remote Station

Data Transmission from VSAT Remote Station

Data from your PC/laptop is processed and transmitted via the Satellite Modem to the VSAT Antenna (satellite dish).

Satellite Signal Transmission

Satellite Signal Transmission

The satellite signal from the VSAT antenna is beamed to the Satellite (Measat Satellite) in space.

Receiving Ground Station

Receiving Ground Station

The satellite signal is bounced off from the Satellite to the Receiving Ground station on Earth.

Receiving Data

The satellite signal is then processed into data to be received at the End User Terminal via the Satellite Modem or Hub.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is VSAT?
VSAT stands for Very Small Aperture Terminal. It uses the satellite to transmit and receive data, voice/fax and video communications between sites.

Is there any harmful radiation to human beings or interference with other equipment when using the VSAT service?
There is no harmful radiation to human beings working around the antenna as its transmission is always directed skywards. VSAT terminals have been widely used around the world and there has been no interference to other equipment.

Will unfavorable weather conditions affect VSAT transmission?
For VSAT Services using C-band frequency, the service will not be affected by adverse weather conditions. However, VSAT services operating over Ku-Band frequency will occasionally be affected by rain fade. To minimize rain-induced interruptions, Maxis' Ku-Band Hub is operated on 1+1 diversity earth station at a backup facility. These earth stations will automatically be switched into operation to avoid rain-induced outages in either location.

How is a VSAT installation done?
A site survey is first conducted to determine the best location for the VSAT antenna, taking into consideration space constraints, the antenna look-angle, cable routing and space for the indoor satellite modem. The VSAT antenna can be installed on the rooftop, on the ground or even be mounted on the wall.

How long does it take to install a VSAT?
After the site survey, it takes 2 days to build a concrete foundation and install an antenna mount. The actual VSAT installation takes only 2 to 3 hours including the antenna tracking, testing and commissioning of the system.
